Jeremy Bischoff, age 34, of Shelton, was killed early Monday, June 27 in New Haven County in Wallingford.
Bischoff was driving a 2016 Kia Soul in the center lane on I-91 southbound around 2 a.m. when he hit the back of a commercial vehicle and lost control, said the Connecticut State Police.
After spinning out of control, the Kia struck the metal cable barrier on the left side of the highway and came to a stop in the left lane and center median, state police said.
Bischoff suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Wallingford EMS, state police said.
An investigation found the damage to the vehicle was consistent with colliding into the rear end or right rear corner of a dry van or enclosed style semi-trailer, state police said.
The case remains under investigation.
